Services:
IV Therapy and Nutrient Injections: IV (intravenous) and IM (intramuscular) nutrient therapies are powerful tools used by Dr. Mackenzie to support optimal health and address specific deficiencies or health conditions. These therapies allow for the direct delivery of essential vitamins, minerals, amino acids, and other nutrients into the bloodstream or muscle, bypassing the digestive system for faster absorption and more immediate effects. In a naturopathic assessment, IV and IM therapies may be recommended based on individual needs, which are determined through a comprehensive health evaluation and, in some cases, functional lab testing. Common IV nutrient therapies include high-dose vitamin C for immune support, B-complex vitamins for energy, and magnesium for muscle relaxation and cardiovascular health. IM injections might include B12 to combat fatigue, or vitamin D to correct deficiencies and support bone health. These therapies are particularly beneficial for individuals with compromised digestion, chronic illness, or nutrient absorption issues, as they provide 100% bioavailability of nutrients. They are also used for acute conditions such as migraines, immune system recovery, or detoxification support. By incorporating IV and IM therapies, naturopathic doctors offer a potent, effective method to rapidly replenish nutrient levels, enhance energy, and promote healing, all while customizing treatments to meet each patient's unique health needs.
Functional Medicine Testing: Functional medicine testing plays a key role in a naturopathic doctor's approach to assessing and treating health concerns. This type of testing goes beyond traditional lab work to provide deeper insights into the body's systems, identifying imbalances and dysfunctions at the root cause of health issues. A naturopathic doctor uses functional tests such as comprehensive hormone panels, gut microbiome analysis, food sensitivity tests, and advanced metabolic panels to assess areas like hormonal imbalances, digestive health, detoxification pathways, nutrient deficiencies, and immune function. For example, hormone testing may reveal HPA axis dysfunction ("adrenal fatigue"), thyroid issues, or reproductive hormone imbalances, while gut health tests can uncover dysbiosis, increased intestinal permeability ("leaky gut"), or food intolerances that contribute to inflammation and chronic disease. Based on the results, the naturopathic doctor creates a personalized treatment plan that may include targeted nutrition, specific supplements, herbal remedies, lifestyle modifications, and other natural therapies. These interventions aim to correct the underlying dysfunctions revealed by the tests, promoting optimal health and preventing future disease. By using functional medicine testing, naturopathic doctors can offer a precise, evidence-based approach to healing that addresses the root causes of illness rather than just managing symptoms.
Metabolic Health and Weight Management: Dr. Macapproaches the assessment and treatment of metabolic disease and weight management by focusing on holistic, individualized care. During the initial assessment, the doctor conducts a comprehensive evaluation of the patient’s health history, lifestyle, diet, physical activity, and potential environmental or genetic factors contributing to metabolic imbalances. Diagnostic tools such as blood work, hormone panels, and metabolic testing may be used to identify underlying causes like insulin resistance, thyroid dysfunction, or chronic inflammation. Treatment is personalized and may include dietary recommendations focused on whole foods, balanced macronutrients, and portion control to regulate blood sugar and support weight loss. The naturopathic doctor may also recommend supplements, physical activity and tailored exercise routines to improve muscle mass and enhance metabolic rate. In addition to addressing physical factors, Dr. Mackenzie explores the role of stress, sleep, and mental health in metabolic health. Mind-body therapies, relaxation techniques, and lifestyle counseling are provided to ensure a balanced approach to long-term weight management and overall metabolic health. The goal is to empower patients to achieve sustainable weight loss, improved energy levels, and balanced metabolism through natural, non-invasive methods.
Gastrointestinal Health: Dr. Mackenzie uses comprehensive stool analysis designed to assess gastrointestinal health. It uses advanced DNA sequencing technology to evaluate the microbiome, pathogens, and digestive function. The test provides detailed information on gut bacteria, parasites, fungi, inflammation markers, and overall digestive performance. This helps in identifying gut imbalances, potential infections, or dysbiosis that may be contributing to symptoms like bloating, digestive distress, or systemic health issues. It's often used in functional and integrative medicine to guide personalized treatment plans for gut health restoration.
